Olympic Equestrian Course Designer Mike Etherington Smith visited the Camphire Estate, Cappoquin Co. Waterford this weekend in preparation for the Camphire International Horse Trials & Festival which will take place this year from the 26th to the 28th July.
Competitions at three, two and one star levels will be included in the International programme and Mr Etherington-Smith will once again design the CIC*** track. Several of the Irish high performance squads will use Camphire as part of their selection process and in particular the Junior and Young rider squads will be required to run in the CIC**YR class.
This year’s Festival offers something for everyone and includes a host of events for all the family including Birds of Prey displays, outdoor pursuits such as Archery, a Climbing Wall, Garden Games including Giant Jenga and a free Childrens’ Arts & Craft Tent. Irish food producers including Butlers Ice-Cream, Summerhouse Bakery and O’Flynns Gourmet Sausages will be amongst the many great producers providing the fare at this year’s event. Other highlights include a Dog Show which will take place on Sunday 28th with prizes for best Large, Medium, Small breeds and a special category for puppies!
Ladies and gentlemen are also advised to dress for the occasion with a special Most Appropriately Dressed Competition taking place during the event with prizes sponsored by Dubarry.
Speaking about the event, William Wilks of Camphire House & Farm said “We are proud to announce details of this year’s International Horse Trials and Festival. Since it was founded in 1999 by my Aunt Susan Dobbs, these trials have grown in both stature and quality – attracting the best riders in Ireland and from the UK. Furthermore, a wonderful festival atmosphere has also developed, offering everyone the chance to come and participate in the many different activities on offer and enjoy the highly sociable atmosphere of this weekend. We look forward to welcoming visitors from all parts of the country, the UK and indeed the rest of the world.”
The Bucas sponsored CIC*YH which will be held at Camphire International Horse Trials will also see the cream of this year’s six year olds trying to catch the attention of the selectors for Le Lion D’angers this Autumn. The CIC*** will provide the Irish senior combinations with a final opportunity to compete at this level prior to selection which is due for release on the 29th July.
